How it works
No deck. Here's exactly what happens.
A conversation, a look at your numbers, a written proposal, a first ninety days, and a monthly rhythm. What hiring us actually looks like.
The sequence
01
A conversation. Thirty minutes with Chris. You talk; he asks about the business, the bank, the books, and what prompted the call. If you don't need a CFO yet, he'll say so.
02
A look at your numbers. With your permission, we look at your file, your last returns and your bank reporting. You get a short written summary of what we found, whether or not you hire us.
03
A proposal. Fixed monthly fee, written scope, a start date. Month to month, with 30 days' notice either way.
04
The first ninety days. Understand and stabilize, build visibility, establish the rhythm. The timeline is below.
05
The rhythm. Close within 15 days of month-end. A monthly review with Chris. A weekly cash note if you're forecasting. The phone in between, answered the same business day.
The first ninety days
Days 1 to 30
Understand and stabilize
Access, a look at every balance sheet account, the bank relationship, the reporting, the software. Cleanup where needed. A close calendar. A written baseline: what's right, what's wrong, what's at risk.
Days 30 to 60
Build visibility
The first close on the new calendar. A chart of accounts that matches the business. The 13-week forecast, if you need one. The first scorecard draft.
Days 60 to 90
Establish the rhythm
The monthly review. Weekly cash. Lender reporting on a calendar. The first decisions made on numbers instead of instinct. Strategic work begins: pricing, capacity, debt, the next location.
The timeline shows three thirty-day blocks: understand and stabilize, build visibility, establish the rhythm. By day ninety the first decisions are being made on numbers instead of instinct.
Three engagement shapes
Accounting and controller
Bookkeeping, close, financials, tax-ready package. For owners who need the books right and the CPA happy.
Full finance department
Everything above plus fractional CFO, the forecast, lender reporting, the monthly review. For owners with decisions in front of them.
Projects
Cleanup, loan packages, budgets, system changes, transaction support. Fixed fee, fixed scope. Often how a relationship starts.
What drives the cost
We don't publish a price, because two $10M companies can need very different things. We publish what drives it, and we quote a fixed monthly fee in writing after we've looked at your numbers. Month to month. No hourly billing.
Engagements and fees →What you keep
— Your CPA.
— Your bank.
— Your software.
— Your office manager or bookkeeper, if they're good. We make them better supported, not redundant.
What we need from you
— A point person.
— Read-only access to bank feeds and your systems.
— An hour a month with Chris.
— Honesty about what isn't working.
Tell us what's going on. We'll tell you what we see
One conversation with Chris, no deck. He'll tell you what he sees and what it would take to fix it, including if the answer is that you don't need a CFO yet.
